The Story Behind The Coach
Allow me to introduce myself; I am Latanya Green and in this picture is a small part of my family. I was born into a family with 11 aunts & 9 uncles. It was not something that was announced out-loud but, I was definitely brought up with the concept that it takes a village to raise a child. It was within my family that I first started to understand that every relationship in your life has the power to influence a child's development.
I have a vast and wonderful family but my childhood was not an easy one by any means. Because, of that I started to view life very differently than most children would. I could see clearly what I did not want to be; so I started to look at different individuals in my family who exemplified qualities that I did want. I took bits and pieces and put them into my bag, for who I would hope to be. I tried to not just emulate the behavior but to understand what was their thought process behind it and how it helped them throughout their lives.
When I knew that I was about to become a Mother; that bag started to be about who I wanted to be as a Parent. It was not just about doing things differently than my parents; because you lose the lessons if you throw out the baby with the bathwater. I had to deal with and acknowledge the pain as well as the struggle to really embrace all of the lessons, as well as remember the joy and the love. In addition to seeking knowledge within my family; I researched, took classes, signed up for trainings and certifications, I read everything I could get my hands on.... no, really; I practically lived in the library.
My purpose really did grow out of my pain and my passion for helping families and parents is now an extension of that growth. I was barely a teenager when I realized my heart for the care of children and I have continued that passion throughout my life.
I have been a certified Mediator for over 22 years and I am a certified QMHS. I have worked with children for over 30 years and I am also a parent of 3, grown daughters. I have worked as a Parental Coach for over 15 years, as a Life Coach for over 10 years and I had the pleasure of attending Kent State University as an English major. The two central elements that have sustained my life have been writing and children and now they are forever intertwined.
I have seen first hand what investing in your decision to be a better parent can bring about. It is my hope that I may share with others what has been shared with me and through that knowledge, help you to become better equipped to attain your goals for your family. This is my life's work and I am happy to share it with you.
Be Blessed & Enjoy Your Family.
